“The Basics” Worshop

A couple of weeks ago, I got to attend a wonderful workshop given by Melissa Koehler. I had been following Melissa’s blog for a while and not only loved her work, but she also just seemed like such a great person. When my friend Lailah and I were down in San Diego for Jay Reilly’s workshop a few months ago, we decided to contact Melissa to see would like to have lunch with us. She said yes and brought along her most adorable little boy. We got to pick her brain a little bit and hear about her photography. I could tell she would be someone great to take a workshop from and asked if she would be interested in coming up here to do one..she was, so we did.

The workshop was wonderful. Melissa is so knowledgeable and willing to share so many tips and tricks. She was fun, helpful and gave away some amazing prizes from some wonderful sponsors. I helped find the models for the workshop and was so happy with the girls we got. I actually did not take that many photos during the shoot, so just have a few to share here.

First up..M. I took some family pictures of her family last year, and knew then what a natural Miss M was in front of the camera.  She was definitly in her element once again and was not at all phased by 10 women and their cameras on her. Oh Robin, you are going to be in trouble with this little beauty. At one point, she said something to the effect of “this is as fun as being at Disneyland”.

H was there with her sister, and while I got a few pretty cute ones of them both, this next one is definitely my favorite.

And then there is this beauty, who you got a glimpse of in the post below. I’m thinking I did not look like that when I was 13. I sure did not have the confidence that she has..a total natural in front of the camera and just a great girl. She is as sweet as can be and actually makes me look forward to having a teenage girl in the house a few years from now.
