It is gray and rainy today, the perfect day to curl up and eat soup. Just a little over a week ago, we had the perfect fall day. A little chill in the air and some beautiful late afternoon light. I could possible live somewhere where it is fall all year long. I did a shoot with this great family at the beach this past summer and got some very fun family shots, which I just realized I never shared here. Lynette wanted to get some shots of just the kids with more of a fall look and I am so happy with what we got. While there are a ton of great locations to shoot at in Santa Cruz County, I am a big fan of doing shoots at and around peoples homes. Since Lynette and her family no longer live in the area and were only up here for the weekend, that was not an option. We went for the next best thing and shot around my neighborhood. I am so lucky to have this great path around my neighborhood and just love the light this time of year. I try not to always bring my camera on family walks, but with light like this, I have quite a few of my kids on this path. It’s always fun to do shoots with some other kids in this great location.
This session was also really special to me because it is so nice to see little “S” all grown up. I met Lynette almost 7 years ago when we were all part of the new mom group at the local hospital. It was so nice to see you again Lynette and it really means the world to me that you took time out of your weekend in Santa Cruz again to do another shoot. I have to add, Lynette did an awesome job picking out clothes for the kids. They are the PERFECT example of what to wear for a fall photoshoot.

As beautiful as the light is in the color photos, it is equally as dreamy in black and white.

Ahh..kids and their hats and scarfs. Note number 1 to parents, bring hats and scarfs to your photo session, accessories are FUN!

Not to play favorites, but I just loved these next two of little Miss “S”. She is so beautiful and looks soo very grown up. I have a very clear memory of seeing her my last time at the new mom group at the hospital. It was my last “meeting” with Eli a few days before Halloween when he would turn one. We got kicked out at one and had to move on. “S” had recently had surgery on her hips and had casts covering the bottom half of her body. That did not stop Lynette from dressing her up as an angel and bringing her to the celebration. And look at her now..wow!

And I had to get a few with the beautiful mama.

And a fun Halloween photo. Note number 2 to parents..if you want your kids to cooperate for the “nice” photos, let them do what they want for some fun ones as well.
