I sit here with quite a few lovely shoots to be edited, packages to get ready and photos to share. These things along with my kids having half days this week, husband still out of town and dozens of other things on the never ending to-do list means that things don’t happen as quickly as I want them to. I feel like I have to blog sessions in order and have a hard time narrowing down which images to share, so in turn share nothing. While I have things I want to say about each session, getting it from my head to here is harder than it should be. I have way too many drafts started and never finished. I really need to change that. While downloading images from a shoot the other night, one image struck me immediately and I decided I would blog about right now instead of waiting for the “right” time.
But first, and not totally off subject, a quick look through my blog and you will see a few different logos. It’s a bit embarrassing, but it is part of my ongoing journey of becoming a photographer. As I have tried to find who I am as a “photographer”, I have also tried to find a way to convey that accurately in a logo. That is NOT as easy as it sounds for someone as indecisive as me. All my past attempts at logos were cute or fun, but I don’t think they really said anything about me. I decided to give it one last try and could not be more pleased with what the amazing Tiffany at On The Spot Studio did. I’m still playing around with my blog, so right now , like everything..it is a work in progress, but I really LOVE The new look and finally feel like it is really me. I wanted my name in a handwritten font, not perfect, but fun, to show that I like to take photos that are real or perfectly imperfect. I wanted photography to be in a classic font to show that while I am not perfect, I am still a professional.
On to the photo. This is the third time I have shot this girls, and I could not be more pleased with what we got. The light was going away pretty quickly and we were done, or so I thought. As we walked back to the car, the girls really wanted to put on their last outfit for a few more photos. While I knew I already had images of them that I knew mom would love, how could I say no to them wanting me to take a few more photographs. While the light had all but disappeared, except for on a small patch of grass and dirt, I sat down the girls and shot from my favorite angle..and viola, I got this. I LOVE this photo and I am pretty sure mom will as well. This really is a perfect example of the kind of photos I strive to take. The hardest part about wanting to be a photographer is always wondering if you are good enough. While I definitely feel like I have come a long way since starting this journey a few years ago, I know I still have so much to learn. With every shoot, I learn something new and get closer and closer to the photographer that I hope to be someday. While I love looking at photos are perfect locations or fun “styled” shoots, it is simple images like this one below that bring me the most joy.
